![]() ![]() I'm currently using the TD Ameritrade FDIC IDA as my Cash Sweep vehicle. In terms of which Cash and Sweep vehicle options, I have two more according to TD Ameritrade's "Summary of Cash Sweep Program": "TD Ameritrade Cash" and "Money Market Funds". Note: I don't have a margin account and am not under the pattern - day trader rule. Today, (picture 1) the web portal shows that the margin balance current value is 0. Because of I can only trade three days a week( Monday, Wednesday and Friday). Managing this manually is a huge pain though. So now I do manual sweeps, and get 3-4 interest on uninvested cash. They changed to almost zero interest sweep vehicle when they were acquired. What this means is that if I buy and sell a security on Monday, I won't be able to use the funds I use to buy that security on Tuesday because those funds have to "settle" and will be returned to my cash account only on Wednesday. If your cash sweep vehicle is a money market fund, or the IDA, and your account is flagged as a Pattern Day Trader, you understand that on the next business day, TD Ameritrade may change your cash sweep vehicle to TD Ameritrade Cash. TDA used to allow you to use an MMF which paid decent interest, as your cash sweep vehicle. Options Buying Power and Available Funds for Trading are positive, which to me means I have money in the account that I can spend, which contradicts the negative balance for the CSV. So if you have a recent trade that hasn’t passed the T+2 timeline for settlement, you will have more cash in your. I currently have a negative balance with the CSV and it seems to increase when my stocks increase in value. Your cash and sweep vehicle is the vehicle that contains all cash not tied up in equities both settled and unsettled. It’s all cash from deposits and settled trades. What I have a problem with is the fact that I have to wait a day or two for the funds to "settle" so that can use them again. Cash available for trading is exactly what it sounds like.
